Do I need to provide my email or phone number to sell an item?

When selling on Depop, you do not need to provide your email address or any other personal information (i.e. phone number, card details or social media handles) to another user.

A legitimate buyer will buy directly through Depop, and you’ll be notified by an email from Depop and a notification in-app (via the :bell: icon in the top left corner of your profile page) when a buyer has bought your item. You don’t need to take any further action to complete the sale.

If someone sends you a message asking for your personal information, like your email address, they may be trying to lead you off Depop, which could put you at risk.

Sharing email addresses, phone numbers or any other personal information could result in external parties not affiliated with Depop attempting to access your account, which is known as phishing.

If you believe someone is acting suspiciously, please report the user to our Support team by clicking the three dots in the right hand corner of the app.
