UK sellers: Everything you need to know about payouts on Depop

A ‘payout’ is the amount of money you receive from making a sale (minus fees), paid to your connected Bank Account from your Depop Balance. All payouts are processed through Depop Payments powered by Stripe and get sent within a specific schedule to help you easily manage your sales and keep your protected.

How do I receive my payout?

To make sure you get the money in your connected bank account as fast as possible after your sale, you need to:

  • Add a valid bank account
  • Verify your identity by uploading ID

Just a reminder you must be over 18 to have a Depop Payments account. If you are under 18, you can use a parent or guardian ID with their permission.

  • You will not receive payouts until your account is verified and has a bank account connected.
  • Until this information is provided, payments from your sales will sit safely in your Depop balance, but cannot be paid out to you.

When will I receive my payout?

  • Once a buyer purchases from you via Depop Payments, the money goes straight to your Depop balance, which you can see in the Payouts section of your account.
  • If you use Depop Shipping, you will receive your payout 2-3 working days after the tracking info shows as ‘Delivered’ or 10 working days (14 calendar days) after the sale date - whichever comes first. So the faster you ship with Depop shipping, the faster you are likely to receive your payout.
  • If you've selected to arrange your own shipping, you will be paid 10 working days (14 calendar days) after the sale date.

In the Payment settings section of the app, you can check the bank name and the last 4 digits of the account number for the account you have connected, so you know exactly where it’s going to be sent. If payment hasn't been sent to your bank account after 10 working days (14 calendar days), please contact Support.

Can I change how often I get payouts?

  • We currently only offer a payout schedule of 2-3 working days after delivery or 10 working days (14 calendar days) after the sale date. However, there may be some users who are on a slightly different schedule due to early sign up to Depop Payments or our Top Seller programme.
  • You can see the next scheduled payout date by clicking on ‘My Depop’ then going to the top right hand menu and selecting ’Payouts -> Depop balance’. If this date has passed and your payout still hasn’t been sent, please contact Support.

Why is my payout ‘Pending’?

  • A ‘Pending' payout means the buyer has paid but your funds are waiting to clear. Once they do, you’ll see them in your available Depop balance.

Why is my payout ‘On hold’?

  • If your payout is 'On hold', this means the buyer has raised an issue with the purchase. Your funds are being held until that issue is resolved. Head to My Depop > Menu > Resolution Centre to view your disputes.

Why do I have a negative balance?

  • A negative Depop balance can happen if refunds have been issued to buyers at a point when your balance is zero or a low amount.
  • If you don't have the funds to cover a refund, Depop will put your account into a negative balance, and any new payments will be used to cancel out the negative balance.
  • Payouts should resume normally following more Depop Payments sales and your balance being out of negative.

Why haven’t I received my payout?

Any missing or incorrect information can impact your payouts being received. If you haven’t received a payout 10 working days (14 calendar days) after your sale date, please check your account is set up with the below information. These are some of the most common reasons payouts fail:

  • Check which bank account you have linked to your Depop account so you are expecting it to arrive in the right place. Visit ‘My Depop’ and click the top right navigation menu for your ‘Settings’. In the ‘Payouts’ -> ‘Depop balance’ section, scroll down to ‘Payment settings’ and you will see your linked bank account. The last 4 digits are from the account number for your connected bank account - not your long associated card number.
  • Incorrect bank details – update your details as stated above.
  • Issues with your bank account or no bank account has been connected yet.
  • Depop Balance is negative due to refunding a buyer. You need to connect a Top-up card to avoid this happening again.
  • Any payouts cannot be paid out to you until your Depop Payments account has been verified. Just a reminder you must be over 18 to have a Depop Payments account, or have permission from a parent or guardian.

Why has my payout failed?

If your payout has failed, you can check why this has happened within your Depop Balance activity in the ‘My Depop’ section of the app.

  • Tap My Depop and select the top right hand menu then click on Payouts -> Depop Balance -> Select your failed payout to find out what might need to be resolved. It could be for one of the following reasons:
    • The connected bank account is restricted
    • The connected bank account has been closed
    • The currency doesn't match your account
    • Your bank couldn't process the payout
    • Your bank details are incorrect
    • Your account number is incorrect
    • Your account holder name is incorrect
    • The bank no longer supports payouts

Struggling to resolve your issue through the app? Contact Depop Support.

Where can I see the breakdown of my most recent sales?

  • View your sales receipts by going to My Depop -> Payouts -> Double-tap on the red Depop Balance card at the top.

If you are still having issues after looking at all of the above, contact Support if you need more help.
