'Drop Shipping' or 'Catalogue Selling' is the process of a seller providing products directly from the manufacturer or wholesaler and shipping straight to the buyer.
Because this method lacks the quality control of the usual 'Seller to Buyer' transaction, we only allow it to be used on clothing and accessory items, where delivery and catalogue details are clearly shown. We also ask that while you may have permission from buyers who wear your items and send a photograph of them wearing it, that you do not use stock model shots, and keep them wholly original.
Drop shipping designer or luxury brands, electronic, or cosmetic items are against our terms - this is because we are unable to judge the authenticity or they have not tested to meet the legal safety requirements.
If Drop Shipping is the route you're thinking of going down on Depop, here's how to do it within our terms;
- Source your clothing or accessory stock from a wholesaler you think will represent your brand and shop accurately.
- Purchase your goods to quality asses the product, and if it's of a worthy standard for your buyers.
- Take original photographs yourself before listing multiple sizes, which can then be directly 'drop shipped' to buyers after their purchase.
Sellers are entirely responsible for ensuring items are accurately pictured, and the delivery timeframe is specified, as more often than not it takes a little while longer. We do also expect buyers to be receiving quality items, and this method of selling is not to be abused. Depop reserves the right to remove any items in breach of these guidelines.
We want Depop to stay creative and unique, so as long as we're able to collaborate in keeping it the leading fashion marketplace with awesome products, everybody's happy!
You'll see from our Prohibited Items article that we have some rules around catalogue sales, or more commonly known as drop shipping.
