How to ship - Worldwide

Shipping from outside UK or US

If you’re a seller located outside the UK or US you can use your preferred method to ship the item to your buyer wherever they are.

When listing your item, input your domestic or worldwide shipping price, factor in both the size and weight of the item(s), as well as the distance it needs to travel. Given the uncertainty of the item's destination at the time of listing, you should make an estimate based on the size of the item.

What to do when you made a sale:

  • Securely package the item(s) in an appropriate box or shipping envelope, available at office supply stores or the post office.
  • Keep your buyer informed, send them a message thanking them and letting them know when you plan to ship
  • Ship ASAP using tracked shipping and make sure you keep proof of shipping until the item has been safely delivered with the buyer
  • Fill in any required parcel info - Don't forget to add any required tax codes such as an  IOSS. Or If a phone number or email is required for an international parcel, we recommend using your own details. This avoids you having to reach out and ask a buyer for their phone number or email address, which could then lead to your account being wrongfully suspended.
  • Follow-up with your buyer and add tracking to your receipt,  let them know that you've shipped their item and add your tracking number by tapping 'Mark as shipped' on your sales receipt and entering the shipping details there. Be sure to pass on any updates you receive regarding its planned delivery, that way there will be less need for them to chase you up on when to expect the item.

In the chances of something going wrong:

  1. Reach out to your shipping provider for an update and open a claim with them directly if required
  2. Contact your buyer to keep them in the loop too
  3. Make sure the buyer is aware if their item may be at customs or local depot and needs collecting
  4. Contact Depop Support if you need any help or advice along the way

My buyer entered the wrong address:

If your buyer would like the item to be sent to another address from the one listed on your receipt or they made a mistake or entered the wrong address, you will need to refund them and ask them to update their address inside the Depop app.
If you send the item to a different address other than the one stated on the Depop receipt, you will void your Depop Protection.

Once you have refunded your buyer and they have changed their address you can re-list the item so they can purchase it again. The Depop selling fee that was taken for this sale has been automatically refunded to you as well.

Proof of postage:

As a seller, it is always your responsibility to send items tracked and keep proof of postage. This is because the seller is the only party that can prove that the item has been sent properly. This is really important because if something goes wrong (like the buyer claiming that their item hasn't arrived), you must have proof that you've shipped it off properly.

Without tracking, the buyer and Depop have no way of determining whether or not the item was sent, or where it was sent. So please send that parcel tracked!
