UK Shipping Policy

If you are a UK based seller and you choose to send items within the UK Mainland (as defined below) and select ‘Ship with Evri’ to purchase a shipping label through Depop, the following additional terms shall apply

1. Definitions

Carrier means our chosen third-party carrier who provides the shipping service when you purchase a shipping label via Depop (currently Evri). 

Dangerous Goods means substances and articles that have been identified under applicable law as hazardous for transport and which present a risk to people, property and the environment.

Excluded Items means the items set out Schedule 2.

Parcel means any parcel that you ship using ‘Ship with Evri’ via Depop. 

Prohibited Items means the items set out in Schedule 1.

UK Mainland means England, Wales, the Isle of Wight, Isle of Man and Scotland and excludes: (i) the Scottish Highlands and Scottish Islands set out in Schedule 4; (ii) Guernsey, Jersey and the Isles of Scilly; and (iii) Northern Ireland.

2. Your Obligations

2.1. When selecting ‘Ship with Evri’ to purchase a shipping label through Depop, you must:

• 2.1.1. provide us with all information we need to be able to provide the service to you;
• 2.1.2. pack your Parcel in accordance with the guidelines set out in Schedule 3;
• 2.1.3. ensure you use a full and accurate address and postcode for your Parcel;
• 2.1.4. fix the barcode provided by us to the Parcel and ensure that it is clearly visible; and
• 2.1.5. otherwise ensure that your Parcel has been adequately prepared, addressed, labelled and packaged for safe despatch to protect against the ordinary risks of transport and for safe handling.

2.2. Your Parcel must not contain any:

• 2.2.1. Prohibited Items;
• 2.2.2. Dangerous Goods;
• 2.2.3. items which are illegal;
• 2.2.4. items which it is illegal to transport;
• 2.2.5. items which it is illegal to supply to the recipient; or
• 2.2.6. perishables or goods requiring refrigeration.

2.3. If we, or the Carrier, believe that the sending of your Parcel or its contents amounts to or may amount to a criminal offence we may pass your Parcel and/or its contents to the relevant authorities. We shall inform you if this is the case.

2.4. If you fail to comply with your obligations in section 2.1 or we (or the Carrier) believe an item breaches the rules set out in section 2.2, we (or our Carrier), may:

• 2.4.1. open your Parcel for examination if we reasonably believe we need to do so to comply with our legal obligations;
• 2.4.2. refuse to handle your Parcel;
• 2.4.3. accept your Parcel for carriage on the basis that we and the Carrier shall not be responsible in any way for any loss or damage to the Parcel or to any person or property as a result of the carriage of that Parcel;
• 2.4.4. in the case of breach of sections 2.2.1 and 2.2.2, destroy or dispose of your Parcel; or
• 2.4.5. return the Parcel to you.

2.5. Your Parcel must meet the following criteria:

• 2.5.1. be no more than 120cm in length;
• 2.5.2. have combined dimensions not exceeding 245cm to be calculated as follows: add the two shortest dimensions and multiply them by two, add the length, the total calculation needs to be under 245cm;
• 2.5.3. not weigh more than 15kg; and
• 2.5.4. if you tell us it is ‘postable’ it must have maximum dimensions of: length 35.4cm and width 25cm, and thickness minimum 10mm and maximum 2.5cm.

3. Undeliverable Parcels 

3.1. Your Parcel shall be deemed to be undeliverable (“Undeliverable”) if:

• 3.1.1. it is refused at the delivery address;
• 3.1.2. it has not been delivered after three unsuccessful delivery attempts have been made;
• 3.1.3. the address on the Parcel is incorrect;
• 3.1.4. a query relating to the address on the Parcel is not resolved; or
• 3.1.5. the Parcel is damaged prior to delivery to the recipient.

3.2. If the Carrier determines that your Parcel is Undeliverable, they will use your address to return your Parcel.

3.3. If you ask for your Parcel to be returned to you, you shall provide your name and address to us and/or the Carrier so that the Carrier can re-label the Parcel and deliver it to you.

4. Evri's liability to you

• 4.1. The Carrier shall transport your Parcel if it contains any Excluded Items but shall not be liable for any loss of or damage to such Excluded Items or Parcels containing Excluded Items.
• 4.2. The Carrier shall not be liable for any loss or damage to, or late delivery of, your Parcel:
• 4.2.1. if it has not been prepared, addressed, labelled or packaged in accordance with section 2.1;
• 4.2.2. if it contains items which breach the rules in section 2.2; or
• 4.2.3. where section 2.3 applies;
  and you shall not be entitled to any refund from us in such circumstances.

4.3. Subject to section 4.2 above, the Carrier accepts liability to you for loss or damage to your Parcel in transit up to a maximum of £20, provided that in the case of a missing Parcel you tell us that the Parcel has been lost within 21 days of the date when the Parcel was scanned into the Carrier’s network and upon further investigation epop (or the Carrier) determines that the Carrier lost the Parcel.

5. Your liability for failure to comply with this policy

5.1. You (as a Depop seller) shall be responsible for any loss or damage relating to personal injury or property damage caused by your failure to comply with this policy.
5.2. You shall reimburse Depop for any costs we reasonably incur as a result of your failure to comply with this policy, including, without limitation, any additional charges payable to our Carrier as a result of the non-delivery, disposal and/or return of your Parcel

This policy forms part of the Depop Terms of Service.

Schedule 1 – Prohibited Items

All toxic substances are prohibited – Such as Arsenic; Beryllium; Cyanide; Fluorine; Hydrogen Selenide; Infectious Substances containing Micro-Organisms or their Toxins which are known to cause (or are suspected of causing) disease: Mercury; Mercury Salts; Mustard Gas; Nitrobenzene; Nitrogen Dioxide; Pesticides; Serum and Vaccines

All liquids are prohibited – Including Gels, Creams, Pastes, Lotions and Oils

Batteries (such as lithium batteries) – Unless included with the equipment they power

Drugs – Any medicinal, narcotic or psychoactive substance controlled under the UK’s current Misuse of Drugs legislations

Gardening and household tools – Unless they are properly protected

High value parcels – Any individual shipment with a combined total value in excess of £300 (such as luxury goods, electrical equipment or specialist items etc)

Illegal items – Goods which are illegal, the carriage of which is illegal, or the supply of which to the recipient is illegal

Magnetised material – With a magnetic field strength of 0.159A/m or more at a distance of 2.1m from the outside of the package

Misleading endorsements – Parcels must not bear words, marks or designs which are unauthorised and which may reasonably lead the recipient to believe it has been sent On Her Majesty’s Service

Oxidising substances and organic peroxide – These are substances such as disinfectants and may cause or contribute to the combustion of other substances. They may also be liable to explosive decomposition, react dangerously with other substances and injure health. For example: Bromides; Chlorates; Components of Fibreglass Repair Kits; Disinfectants; Nitrates; Per Chlorates; Permanganates and Peroxides

Paints and inks – Both solvent and water-based products are prohibited, this also includes varnishes (including nail varnish), enamels and similar substances

Pathogens - Things that can cause disease, such as a virus. Pathogens in the Risk Group 4 and selected Risk Group 3 listed in Schedule 9, Part 5 of the latest edition of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations are prohibited. For example: Clinical; Environmental and Medical Waste; Ebola and Anthrax

Perfumes and aftershaves – As well as being classed as liquids, these are flammable and are prohibited

Pesticides - Any chemical that is used to kill pests and insects

Poisonous (toxic) and infectious substances – Substances that are liable to cause death or injury if swallowed or inhaled, or by skin contact

Pressurised containers – Such Aerosols, Oxygen Tanks or Fire Extinguishers

Radioactive materials – Radioactive materials and samples that are classified as radioactive using Table 2–12 of the latest edition of the International Civil Aviation Organisations' (ICAO) Technical Instructions. For example: Fissile Material; (Uranium 235, etc); Radioactive Waste Material; Thorium or Uranium Ores, etc.

Sharp instruments – Including Knives, Scissors and Axes

UN2814 or UN2900 Infectious substances – These are classified at Division 6.2 of the 2005–2006 Edition Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air published by International Civil Aviation Organisation, (ICAO)

Vehicle parts – Parts which are over our weight limit (15kg) or that are outside of our dimension limits. We also exclude any parts that contain liquids

Weapons and replica weapons – Including decorative, deactivated or air-powered weapons

Schedule 2 – Excluded Items

• All items that have been badly packaged
• All tickets or passes (e.g. for travel or events)
• Antiques (objects over 100 years old)
• Any dangerous, hazardous, perishable or prohibited goods
• Articles made largely or wholly of gold, silver or other precious metals
• Bankers' drafts
• Bearer securities including share warrants
• Bonds or relative coupons un-franked postage or revenue stamps (except a revenue stamp embossed or impressed on an instrument which has been executed)
• Cameras and lenses
• Ceramic or composite items of any description including without limitation mirrored items, crystal, ceramics, porcelain, plaster, marble, china, stone, slate, resin, granite, concrete (or any item containing these materials)
• Cheques or dividend warrants which are uncrossed and made payable to the bearer
• Chilled and frozen food
• Coupons, vouchers, tokens or stamps
• Credit cards and debit cards
• Currency notes or coins
• Diamonds and other precious stones with a value in excess of £250
• Documentation (such as medical, employment, property or commercial records)
• Fossils, stones, stoneware
• Furniture (unless flat packed and safely packaged)
• Glass items or fragile items that contain glass parts (including kitchen appliances)
• Human and animal remains (including, without limitation, ashes)
• Items which can be exchanged by themselves or with any other item for money or goods or services
• Items which have been strapped together
• Jewellery with a value over £250 or antique items
• Kitchen appliances (e.g. white goods or electronic equipment with fragile/glass
• parts)
• Laptops and personal computers
• Lamps and lighting equipment (such as light bulbs, lampshades and chandeliers)
• Liquids or items contained in glass or ceramics – Please note ALL liquids are
• prohibited
• Lottery tickets, scratch cards or similar
• Marble or any stone derivative
• Memorabilia, photographs, signed items and vinyl records
• Musical instruments (including their cases or suitcases when used as external
• packaging)
• National insurance stamps
• Negotiable and Identification documents (including passports, driving licenses etc.)
• Paintings, prints, canvases or posters
• Perishable food/goods
• Plants, seeds, flowers and plant derivatives
• Real fur
• Resin, amber and composite items
• Scripts or subscription certificates
• SIM cards
• Spectacles and optical equipment (e.g. telescopes or binoculars)
• Tobacco and tobacco products
• TVs and monitors (including all-in-one PCs such as the Apple iMac)
• Uncrossed postal orders which do not state to whom they are to be paid
• Watches over £250 or antique items
