Selling on Depop
You’ve sorted through your closet and decided what you want to sell. So what now?
Here’s how to turn your clothes into cash!
Listing your items
To increase your chances of selling:
- Include a clear item description, accurate brand names and photos that accurately represent your item
- Describe and include photos of any faults
- Double-check your items are authentic, and include photos of any labels and tags
- Always use original photos — your listing will be removed if you use stock images
What to do once you’ve sold
We’ll notify you by email and in the app once you sell. Then it’s up to you to package up your item and send it on to your buyer — always ship as soon as you can to increase your chances of receiving a 5-star review!

Getting paid
You’ll get paid as soon as your sale is delivered to the buyer, but exact timings can vary depending on a few factors, including the payment method you signed up to sell with.

Reviews
Reviews are a key part of Depop and help to inform and build trust for both buyers and sellers.
We recommend leaving a review for your buyer once the purchase is complete. This not only helps build trust with other buyers, but also encourages your buyer to leave you a review in return.
How to stay safe when selling
Here’s how to stay protected:
- Only sell your items directly through the Depop app or Depop.com
- Only list items that comply with our Terms of Service
- Use Depop Shipping, or if you ship your own way, always choose a tracked shipping method so you and the buyer are protected if something goes wrong
- Never follow links outside of Depop unless you trust them
- Never give out your personal information to another user, or include it in your bio or listing descriptions. Depop will never ask you to confirm your personal details to complete a sale.
If you receive a suspicious message from another user, report any issues or concerns to Depop Support.
