We want to be a place where young people can explore their style, and it’s important that you’re safe and feel protected while you do that. There are a few guidelines that you should follow when buying and selling to get the most out of Depop.
Stay on the app
It’s super important that you keep buying, selling and chatting within the app. Never meet someone from Depop in person, for any reason. Don’t share personal information, like your phone number, address or email address. And always keep conversations with buyers or sellers within the Depop app - if you move onto another platform, like into your Instagram DMs, we won’t be able to help you if things go wrong.
Always use our payment system
The ‘BUY’ button is your secret Depop weapon. When you buy and sell using the ‘BUY’ button in our app, we can protect you if things go wrong. This means we can get your money back if:
- Items aren’t as described.
- Items don’t arrive.
- Part of your order doesn’t arrive.
If you don’t use our payment system we can’t protect you. So keep it simple - use the ‘BUY’ button.
Protect your account
To keep your account safe, make sure that you use a strong password, keep an eye out for suspicious emails and set up two-factor authentication. Strong passwords are long, random, and contain numbers and special characters. You can read more about protecting your account here.
Look after yourself - and others
We want everyone to feel supported and safe on Depop. It‘s worth reading through our bullying and harassment guidelines, so you know what kind of behaviour we do and don’t allow. Basically - treat others the way you want to be treated, be kind, and stay respectful. If you come across anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, get in touch with our Support Team here.
If you’re between the ages of 13 and 17, we also have a few different rules for how you can sell on Depop - ie, we don’t allow you to model swimwear or certain types of clothes. For more detail, see our full community guidelines.
